Old Cairo is the historical part of the city, located in the southern part of the capital. On its territory there are the most ancient Egyptian structures that keep the imprints of antiquity. The most famous sights of Old Cairo are the Coptic Church of St. George and the Hanging Church of St. Mary, the Babylonian Fortress and the Coptic Museum. It is mainly inhabited by the Copts, the indigenous population of the country, which is mostly Christian.
