The Muhammad Ali Mosque is located at the highest point of the Cairo Citadel. It was built in the middle of the 19th century and lined with alabaster. The rectangular building is made in the Turkish style with elements of Egyptian architecture. Its rich interior is decorated with marble columns, gilded ornaments, and there is a fountain in the middle. Along the perimeter of the mosque are octagonal minarets 82 meters high.
