Egypt, Aswan
The Aswan hydroelectric complex consists of two dams - the new "Aswan Upper Dam" and the old "Aswan Lower Dam".
The lower dam was built by the British in 1902. But it provided seasonal regulation of water only partially.
The upper dam, which is known to most as the Aswan Dam, was built by Soviet engineers for more than 10 years and was inaugurated on January 15, 1971. This grandiose structure is 110 meters high, 800 meters thick and more than 3 kilometers long, thanks to which Egyptian agriculture and energy are developing.
