The Tartu Toy Museum takes adults back to the bright moments of childhood, and offers children to learn a lot of interesting things. The exhibition features toys that Estonian children have played with for generations, as well as toys made by artists, souvenir dolls from different nations, and traditional toys of the Finno-Ugric peoples. In a separate room, puppets from Estonian cartoon films (“actor puppets”) are presented.
The exposition is divided into thematic sections "medieval toys", "paper toys", "toys of the 60s", etc. Many adults, having "met" their forgotten childhood friends, secretly wiped away tears, standing in front of the window.
The museum is located in one of the oldest buildings in Tartu. This is a former elementary school of the Russian garrison. The halls of the museum are decorated in the style of a cozy kindergarten. In the lobby of the museum, pink wallpapers are pasted, wooden stairs painted white.
Instead of a wardrobe, visitors are offered to hang clothes on a metal hook, simply nailed to the wall, and you can relax in the corridors of the museum on a "bench for good thoughts. "
Tartu Toy Museum is open from 11 am to 6 pm, closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The ticket price is 5 euros.
