The National Aquarium of Denmark is located in Charlottenlund, a southeastern suburb of the Danish capital. It was founded in 1939, and in 2013 a new modern complex was opened. The aquarium consists of 70 pools, which contain more than 20,000 fish and marine animals. It is divided into climatic zones. The National Aquarium of Denmark is one of the most visited aquariums in the world.
