Butchers Bridge

Fleischbrücke, Fleisch Bridge, Meat Bridge
Germany, Nuremberg
The butcher's bridge connects Nuremberg's historical districts - the Lorenz side and the Sebald side. It was created in 1596-1598 in the likeness of the famous Rialto in Venice. In 1419, the first wooden trading rows appeared next to the bridge, and after almost 150 years, stone ones. The entrance to the meat market was the "Bull Portal", decorated with a statue of a bull. In 1974, the bridge was included in the list of monuments protected by the state, and in 2011 it was given the title "Symbol of the history of German engineering."

The bridge begins with a stone portal with a bull at the top. The bridge owes its name to the Meat House, located nearby. If you want to walk along the embankment with pleasant views, then you need to go through the portal with the bull and go in the direction perpendicular to the bridge.
