Church of Saint Lorenz

Church of St. Lawrence, Lorenzkirche, St. Lorenz Church
Germany, Nuremberg
The Church of St. Lorenz has long been considered the largest and most significant church in Nuremberg. The first mention of the Lawrence Chapel dates back to 1235, but the church acquired its Gothic appearance only in the 15th century. The oldest sculpture in the temple premises is the figure of the Mother of God of 1280-1290, and the most famous wooden carved sculpture "Annunciation" by Vit Stvosh. The church was badly damaged during air raids during World War II and was rebuilt in 1949.

Calling this church "High Gothic" kills two birds with one stone, emphasizing both the architectural style of the building and its size. Pay special attention to the central portal of the temple, which is richly decorated with figures and ornaments. The entrance is free.
