Germany, Munich
The Museum of Classical Sculpture Copies is a museum of copies of ancient Greek and Roman statues made in plaster in Munich. The museum was founded in 1869 at the same time as the Department of Classical Archeology at the Ludwig Maximilian University.
The museum also has another important tool for archaeological research - a photo library, the funds of which comprise more than one hundred thousand photographs. Since 1976, the museum has been located in the former Administration Building of the NSDAP, and now the House of the Cultural Institutes of Munich, and since 1991 it has been open to the public. The museum has collected more than 1800 copies and is the fourth largest German copy museum.
