The City Gallery in the Lenbach House is an art museum. Located in the state-protected Franz von Lenbach Villa, an architectural monument built between 1887 and 1891. designed by Gabriel von Seidel, and rebuilt first in 1927-1929. Hans Gressel, and then in 1969-1972. Heinrich Folber and Rudolf Tönessen.
The museum presents, first of all, the works of artists of the 18th-19th centuries who worked in Munich. In the northern wing of the Lenbachhaus housed the work of artists of the XIX century. from the so-called circle of the Munich School. The museum also exhibits the works of artists participating in the Munich Secession, founded in 1892.
