The Glyptothek in Munich is a collection of ancient Greek and Roman sculpture owned by the state of Bavaria. The Glyptothek is also called the building in Munich, which houses the collection. The Barberini Faun and the priceless figures from the pediments of the temple of Aphaia from the island of Aegina, the so-called "eginetes", acquired in 1813, are rightfully considered the masterpieces of the Glyptothek collection.
