The official name is the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Mary. I was shocked by its splendor and have already visited this cathedral 3 times. You can admire the cathedral from anywhere in the city. I recommend everyone to see this magnificence.

For lovers of certainty, a few words from Wikipedia should be said. Cologne Cathedral is the third tallest church in the world. 157 meters high at that time (construction was carried out in 1248-1437) - perhaps even steeper than the current skyscrapers in the Emirates : ) The cathedral is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Well, emotions ...They overwhelm when you are next to this majestic creation of man! It is impossible to convey these feelings in words or photographs! This is exactly what you need to try personally! It is possible that such grandeur of the cathedral saved it during the Second World War, when Cologne was completely bombed, but the cathedral remained unscathed.

The beginning of the construction of the Cologne Cathedral dates back to the 12th century, but it must be said that Christian churches used to stand on this site before. There are many legends and rumors around the cathedral. They say that the devil himself was involved in the design of the cathedral, who provided the architect Gerhard with drawings of the future masterpiece in exchange for his soul. But the architect's wife deceived the devil and he cursed the cathedral, saying that the end of the world would come on the day when the temple was completed.
