A bronze monument to the Pied Piper was erected in memory of the main urban legend that glorified little Hameln. So, it was the distant 1284, the city was actively attacked by rats. The authorities no longer knew how to deal with it. But then a man appeared in Hameln who offered to lime all the rats for a substantial fee. The municipality agreed. The rat-catcher played his pipe, took all the rats out of the city and drowned them in the river. But the city authorities got greedy and did not pay the Pied Piper for his work.→
