Dempter House

The Dempter House is a half-timbered house with an ornate Renaissance façade located on the Am Markt opposite the Church of Saint Nicholas. Considered one of the most beautiful buildings in Hameln. The house acquired its present appearance in 1608, when it was bought by the burgomaster Tobias von Dempter. The Italian sculpture decorating the house dates back to the 19th century.

The Dempterhaus was built at the beginning of the 17th century in the Weser Renaissance style for the mayor of the city and named after him. In the niche of the house there is a figure of the ancient goddess Ceres (she was considered the patroness of the harvest and fertility). Address: Am Markt 7
