The Hamburg private zoo Hagenbeck is located in the suburbs of Stellingen and was the first zoo where animals live in natural conditions. The zoo was founded in 1907 by a trainer, circus owner Karl Hagenbeck. On an area of 25 hectares, 210 species of animals live in enclosures located between reservoirs, rocks and decorative buildings. At the main entrance there is a tropical aquarium with 290 species of fish and reptiles. In the Hagenbeck Zoo, you can ride elephants and camels, visit performances in the dolphinarium.
In June, there are performances of "Jungle Nights" during which you can watch animals and their nightlife. At the end of the meeting, a grandiose fireworks display awaits all the participants.
