Germany, Hamburg
The Museum of Arts and Crafts, one of the leading museums of applied arts in Europe, with a collection of more than 500,000 exhibits, was founded in the second half of the 19th century. The basis of the museum was a significant collection of furniture and textiles, glass and metal products, ceramics and sculptures, books and jewelry, collected by art critic Justus Brinkmann. In the museum you can see household items from Ancient Egypt to the present day: silks and embroideries no later than the 18th century, Flemish and Italian lace, tapestries from French and Belgian factories of the 16th century, faience and porcelain, historical keyboard instruments, Yves Saint Laurent costumes. Here you can also get acquainted with works of European, German and Asian art, for example, with Etruscan statues, Greek ceramics.
