Church of St. Michael
St. Michael's Church
Germany, Hamburg
St. Michael's Church in the late Baroque style is the main Protestant church of Hamburg and one of the symbols of the city - an architectural monument of Northern Germany, which forms the sea facade of the city with its contour and 132-meter bell tower. In 2008, the image of the Church of St. Michael was minted on the reverse of a collector's coin with a face value of 2 euros from the "Federal States of Germany" series. The hall of the church has the shape of a cross and is designed for 2500 seats. On the bell tower at a height of 106 meters there is an observation deck, where you can go up by elevator or on foot through 453 steps. Composers Johann Mattheson and Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach are buried in the crypt of the church.
