District Hoechst
hochst
Germany, Frankfurt am Main
Höchst is a historic district on the western outskirts of Frankfurt am Main, dating back to a Roman settlement. In 1928 the town became part of Frankfurt. Here is the headquarters of the Hoechst AG concern. The tourist attraction of the area, in addition to the picturesque narrow medieval streets, is given by the Margaret Church - one of the oldest churches in Germany, built in 830. There is also the Baroque Bolongaro Palace, built between 1772 and 1774, where Napoleon I lived in 1813. In front of the palace there is a baroque landscaped garden around the central fountain of Neptune, with statues depicting musicians.
