Museum Städel
Stadel Museum, Stadel Art Institute
Germany, Frankfurt am Main
The Städel Museum or the Städel Art Institute and City Gallery is an art museum in Frankfurt am Main. The institution, as a public gallery and art school, was founded in 1915 by the banker and connoisseur of beauty Johann Friedrich Städel. After being bombed during World War II, the museum was rebuilt in 1966. It houses 2,700 paintings, 600 sculptures, 4,000 photographs, 100,000 graphic works, making the Städel collection one of the most important collections of art in Germany.
The museum regularly hosts high-quality, conceptually prepared exhibitions. On the museum's website, you can "walk" through the virtual gallery - a digital exhibition that introduces objects from the Städel collections.
