Goethehaus
Germany, Frankfurt am Main
The brilliant poet Johann Wolfgang Goethe was born on August 28, 1749 at house number 23 on Grosse Hirschgraben boulevard, where he lived for 16 years. In 1944, the house was destroyed by Allied bombing, but in 1951 it was restored as closely as possible to its original appearance. The interior of the house: furniture, paintings, books - authentic - they were taken out in advance and were not damaged. Among the surviving things of the poet are paintings, graphics and busts of the 18th and 19th centuries, pieces of furniture, his autographs.
Next to Goethe's house is the Goethe Art Museum, which exhibits paintings by German artists who lived at the same time as the talented poet and thinker.
