Eschenheim tower
Eschenheimer Turm
Germany, Frankfurt am Main
Eschenheim Tower - one of the three surviving towers of the medieval fortifications that surrounded Frankfurt and consisted of 60 towers - is an example of fortress architecture of the 15th century. The tower, 47 meters high, built in the Neo-Gothic style on a square foundation, has 8 floors and two attic sections, it is completed by a central spire surrounded by four crenellated turrets. Inside the tower there are guard rooms that were inhabited until 1956.
Currently, the tower houses a bar and a restaurant with a fireplace room, which is often visited by tourists, and the security room is used as a mini-hotel. The Fireplace Hall hosts quarterly meetings of the Friends of Frankfurt association.
