The Hofkirche is located in the center of Dresden next to the Dresden Residence Castle. It was built in the years 1737-1755 by the Italian architect Gaetano Chiaveri in the Baroque style. The church is crowned with a bell tower 85 meters high, the balustrade is framed by 78 sculptures of the apostles, saints and church leaders. The interior is also impressive, consisting of a nave, a two-story gallery and four corner chapels. The altar is decorated with the painting "The Ascension of Christ" by Anton Mengs. In the dungeon of the Hofkirche is the family tomb of the Wettins, the dukes who ruled Saxony.

Catholic church in a Protestant city
The church captivates with its openwork tower and unusual oval base. It has an interesting building history. The heart of King Augustus the Strong is buried here. They say that even now, if a beautiful girl passes by his heart, it starts beating : ) Drop by for 10-15 minutes.→
