The Victory Column is a triumphal monument dedicated to the victory of Prussia in three wars in the 19th century. over Denmark, Austria and France. It is currently installed on the Big Star Square, in the center of
Tiergarten, although it was originally built by order of Kaiser Wilhelm I on the Royal Square (now Republic Square) . The author of the monument is I. Shtrak, and the figures are F. Drake. The column has a height of 67 meters, it is crowned with a gilded sculpture of the goddess of victory, Victoria, who was popularly nicknamed "Golden Elsa". At a level of about 50 meters, there is an observation deck with an amazing panorama of Berlin and the park. A staircase with 285 steps leads to the site. Inside the column is also a modest historical museum and souvenir shop.
