Zizkov TV Tower
Tower Park Praha, installation Babies, Zizkov Tower
Czech republic, Prague
The Zizkov TV Tower was built in 1985–1992 in the historical district of Zizkov. The tower itself did not please the locals, so in 2000 the city authorities decided to invite the world-famous David Cherny for cooperation. The artist placed 10 giant babies on the tower that crawl up and down the tower.
In 2001, the authorities approved the installation on a permanent basis, and today the Zizkov Tower is considered a hallmark of contemporary art in the Czech Republic. The height of the tower is 216 meters, at the top there is an observation deck, from where a beautiful panoramic view of the whole of Prague opens. The Zizkov Tower is considered the tallest building in the Czech Republic and the second ugliest building in the world.
In 2011-2012, the tower was completely reconstructed inside and renamed Tower Park Praha.
