The Old Town of Prague or Stare Mesto is the historical center of the Czech capital, located on the right bank of the Vltava River. The first settlements arose here in the 8th century, the buildings were built around the market square. The old city stood at the crossroads of trade routes, so trade was actively developed here in the Middle Ages. In the 15th century, Czech kings moved their residence here, which was the impetus for the construction of more cultural buildings and structures.
It was in the Old Town that the first university in all of Eastern Europe appeared. The historic center is full of wonderful sights and architectural creations, including:
Old Town Square,
Charles Bridge and
Powder Tower, National Library and
Public House.
