The funicular was laid on
Petřín Hill in 1891 and timed to coincide with the Anniversary Industrial Exhibition in Prague. The line consisted of only 2 stations. In 1932 it was extended and electrified. For 20 years since 1965, the funicular did not work due to the destruction of the tracks by a landslide, but in 1985, after repairs, it was again open to the public. Now the funicular is part of the public transport system in Prague. Its 2 carriages travel along the route Újezd - Nebozízek - Petřín with a length of 510 m.
