Petrin Tower

Petrinska rozhledna
Czech republic, Prague
The Petřín Tower is located on Petřín Hill near Prague Castle. It was built in 1891 and looks like a miniature Eiffel Tower, its height is 60 meters. In the underground level of the tower there is a museum of the literary character Jara Zimrman, on the lower level there is a cafe and a souvenir shop, and on the upper level there is an observation deck with a magnificent view of Prague.

The Petrinja Tower was built on the hill of the same name in Prague at an altitude of 324 meters above sea level at the suggestion of the Czech Tourist Club after visiting the World's Fair in Paris in 1889 and is similar to the Eiffel Tower. Construction work began on March 16.1891, and on August 20 the grand opening of the tower on Petrshina took place. In 1953, a television antenna was installed on the Petrshina Tower, and the height of the tower thus increased by another 20 meters. It was the first television repeater in the Czech Republic.

If you like viewing platforms, you are here. The tower offers magnificent views of Prague. You can get up on foot, you can use the elevator (the difference in ticket price). Two sites on different levels. On the upper level, everything is covered with glass, so be prepared for glare and scratches. I was here in summer and winter, I liked it equally.

Built in 1891 by the citizens of Prague, the tower embodied the desire of the Slavic brothers to make everything like people's. After visiting the World Exhibition in Paris, the Czechs wanted to have their own Eiffel. And it seemed ridiculous - the copy turned out to be much more modest than the original, and to this day is perceived by some as a symbol of imitation. But the views of Prague are great.

The tower itself is made in the form of a free copy of the Eiffel Tower. But it's worth coming here for the views that open from it. You can climb the stairs to the observation deck, overcoming about 300 steps. The price for pleasure is 120 kroons (the cost is current for April 2015). On Petrin Hill, in addition to beautiful views of the city, you can also admire a wonderful rose garden consisting of 1.000 roses. The entrance is free. How to get there? Tram: 6.9, 12.20, 22. Stop: Ujezd. Next are two options: - Hiking uphill through the Petrin Gardens; - Funicular (runs every 15 minutes).
