Clementinum is a vast historical and architectural complex of Baroque buildings with an area of 20,000 sq. m, it was built in the XVI-XVIII centuries. like a Jesuit college. Clementinum is located in the Stare Mesto quarter. The complex got its name from the chapel of St. Clement, which was previously located in its place. After the abolition of the Jesuit order in the XVIII century. By decree of Maria Theresa, the collegium was transformed into an educational and library center.
The Clementinum building complex includes a number of public buildings: the Astronomical Observatory Tower (its height is 68 m, an exposition of ancient astronomical instruments is located here and an observation deck is located at the top); the meridian room (named after the Prague meridian in the form of a string stretched on the floor, now old astronomical instruments are exhibited there); a baroque library (richly decorated with frescoes and a collection of historical globes, very valuable books and manuscripts are stored here); and the Mirror Chapel with its unique interior (now classical music concerts are held here). Also in the Clementinum there is the Mozart Hall, the Mathematical Hall, the Hall of Manuscripts, the Great Hall, the Concert Hall and the rococo chapel of St. John of Nepomuk, but usually these places are not accessible to the public.

Clementinum is a complex of baroque buildings, which once housed the Jesuit College, and now houses the National Library of the Czech Republic. The complex is located on a large area and is limited to the streets of Charles, Seminarskaya, Crusaders, Platnerzhskaya and Marianskaya Square. The name "Clementinum" comes from the medieval chapel of St. Clement (Clement), who stood in this place. It includes: the Mirror Chapel (1724), the Mathematical Museum (1752), the Astronomical Observatory (1722), the University Library (1727), the first meteorological station in Central Europe, which was opened in 1751 and has been conducting daily temperature measurements since 1775.
