The history of building this area begins in 1169, when King Vladislav II granted it to the Order of St. John of Jerusalem (since the 16th century - the Order of Malta). The Knights built a church, a monastery, a hospital, the residence of the Grand Prior, and many other buildings. In total, there are now more than 50 buildings in the quarter. Among them - the St. John's Command with the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary under the chain, the Palace of the Grand Prior, the monastery, Nostice Palace.→
