The Malostranska bridge tower was built at the western end of the Charles Bridge. It consists of two towers connected by a gate. The small tower was founded in the 12th century and built in the Romanesque style. It was part of Judith's Bridge - the predecessor of Charles Bridge. From the 15th century the tower served as a prison for criminals, later a customs house was located here.
The large tower was built together with Charles Bridge and is its youngest part. The towers were part of the system of defensive structures of Prague. In 1879-1883 the building was renovated under the direction of architect Josef Moker.
