Krzyžovnicka Square is one of the smallest in Prague and is located on the banks of the Vltava River. The square also has a second name - Crusader Square. It received this name because within its boundaries there were and now are buildings that belonged to the Czech Order of the Crusaders with a red star.
Despite its small size, the square is rich in architectural monuments and has a very good location - right at the beginning of
Charles Bridge. The exit from the square to Charles Bridge is adorned with
Old Town Bridge Tower. Here are: the Church of the Holy Savior (Church of St. Salvator), which is part of the architectural complex
Clementinum; the baroque church of St. Francis of Assisi, built by the crusaders in the 17th century; Vine column with a statue of St. Vaclav. In the very center of Krzyžovnicka Square, in 1848, a Neo-Gothic monument to Charles IV was erected to mark the 500th anniversary of the founding of the Charles University. Also on this square are the Museum of Torture and the
Charles Bridge Museum.
