An equestrian statue of the hero of the Hussite wars, Jan Zizka, was installed in 1950 on Vitkov Hill. The monument was erected on the site where in 1420 Jan Zizka, together with the Hussites, defended Prague from the Crusaders. The height of the statue with a pedestal is 22 m, and the weight is 16.5 tons. The author of the project is the Czech sculptor Bogumil Kafka.
The statue of Jan Zizka, the world's largest bronze equestrian monument, is now part of the
Vitkov National Monument.
