In Prague, on the corner of an unremarkable house, something attracts the attention of all passers-by. This is something - a sculptural composition by the infamous Czech sculptor David Cherna, called "Embryo". The building, the drainpipe of which served as the umbilical cord of this amazing installation, is the Na Zabradli Theater.

David Cherny created a sculpture resembling a human embryo in 1996. To make it, he used three materials - metal, epoxy and plastic. Inside the installation, the sculptor installed ordinary LEDs. The height of the embryo is 120 cm.

The appearance of "Embryo" on the gutter was timed to the anniversary of the Prague theater Na Zabradli, and he turned 50 years old. That's how David Cherny decided to congratulate the theater team. The embryo was placed on the corner of the facade of the house, clinging to the gutter, like an alien creature from a fantasy film, and it happened on December 9.2008.
David Cherny made and installed the installation at his own expense. This is such an unusual gift the theater received for its "birthday".

Despite the fact that this is not a controversial sculpture, and in addition, it fits perfectly into the surrounding landscape and looks quite organic on the exterior facade of the building, the sculptor still had to listen to many critical remarks addressed to him. But many liked it.

After the installation of the futuristic embryo of the lyceum, ordinary employees and even the management of the theater were divided into two warring camps. Some liked the sculpture and they are happy with the gift, while others demand its immediate dismantling. But so far the embryo is still in place.

Despite the differences of opinion of citizens, this sculpture is clearly popular with tourists.
First, this "Embryo", according to the sculptor, symbolizes the birth of creative life. Secondly, after sunset, the embryo begins to shimmer pink-red color, which gives the general atmosphere of the city some mystery.

The abstract figure is of great interest to tourists at night with its mysterious pleasant glow and flicker. Well, thirdly, it is the work of David Cerny, and he is for Prague - like Antonio Gaudi for Barcelona.
