Fountain Czech Musicians

Tančící kašna, Čeští muzikanti, Blind musicians
Czech republic, Prague
The Fountain of the Czech Musicians was built by Anna Chromy according to the design of the sculptor Jan Wagner. The sculptural composition is located in the center of Prague and consists of four bronze musicians dancing around a pond with a fountain, and a separately standing fifth figure. Each figure is an allegory to one of the rivers. For example, a sculpture with a mandolin is the Ganges River in India, a sculpture with a flute is the Amazon River in South America, a sculpture with a violin is the Danube in Hungary, a figure with a trumpet is the Mississippi in the USA, while the fifth figure in golden fetters symbolizes the Nile River in Egypt.

The fountain consists of five figures frozen in a dance. As conceived by the author (Anna Chromy), these are the most famous rivers in the world, which have taken on human form and are rushing to freedom. Do you recognize the Amazon, Danube, Mississippi, Ganges and Nile in this sculptural group?
