The building was built in 1718; the exterior design by John Fischer von Erlach was done by Matthias Bernard Brown until 1730. Reconstructions in the palace complex have occurred more than once, but its appearance since the XVIII century has not changed significantly.
Klam-Gallas Palace consists of several buildings centered around a square courtyard. The main facade is decorated in a distinct Baroque style with an attic balustrade, Ionic pilasters, a triangular pediment. Two portals are decorated with powerful figures of Atlanteans (statues created by M. Brown). Another mythological sculpture by Brown is preserved on the pediment.
The palace has always been considered the scientific and cultural center of the Czech capital. It hosted exhibitions, charity evenings, performances; concerts of Mozart and Beethoven, famous Czech musicians.
In 1945, the Klam-Gallas Palace was nationalized. In 1978-1994.
