garden colonnade
Cast iron colonnade, Sadová kolonada
Czech republic, Karlovy Vary
On October 16, 1880, the firm of Fellner and Helmer began the construction of the Blanen Pavilion at the sources of the northernmost Karlovy Vary spring - Sadovoe, which is located in the inner wing of the Military Spa Hospital. The construction was led by Karlovy Vary architect J. Waldert. In 1881, during construction work, it was decided to expand the garden spring promenade (the production costs amounted to 2,500 gold), and in the same year the construction was completed.
In 1966, the Blanensky Pavilion had to be demolished due to poor technical condition, and to date only the part adjacent to the Garden Spring has been preserved.
For almost 120 years of operation of the colonnade, its cast-iron elements were painted twelve times - the maintenance of the object was practically limited to this. Later, a comprehensive reconstruction was carried out, within which the so-called. the lower building, the pavement and other stone elements were replaced. All metal parts have been restored or replaced.
