On Masaryk Street there is a museum of Jan Becher, the creator of the famous Becherovka liqueur, which is sometimes called the fourteenth spring of Karlovy Vary.
"Becherovka" appeared in 1805 in the pharmacy of Joseph Becher in the form of drops that improve digestion. The liqueur recipe is carefully preserved from generation to generation, now only two people own it at the enterprise. Once a week, a mixture of medicinal herbs is collected in bags placed in containers with alcohol. It is known that a third of the components are imported from abroad, and some plants grow only in the Karlovy Vary region.
The Becher Museum tells in detail about the history of the creation of liquor, the development of its production, bottling and storage methods, and will show historical cellars. There is an interesting collection of exhibits here - bottles and labels, advertising posters and diplomas. A pleasant part of the tour is the tasting of liquor and other products of the plant. Near the museum there is a company store where you can buy "Becherovka" and related souvenirs.
