The Art Gallery in Karlovy Vary was built in 1912 by the architect Prof. Zajc. The building was originally built for the Cheb Chamber of Commerce as an exhibition space for commercial samples.
Since 1953, the building has served exclusively as an art gallery. The collection of the gallery contains more works by Czech masters of the 20th century. At the permanent exhibition in the gallery, you can admire the works of Jan Preisler, Josef Capek, Bochumil Kubista, Mikulas Medek, Karl Neprash and other Czech masters. Exhibitions of young artists are also often held here, and the trends of modern Czech art are presented to the public.
Directly behind the gallery is a monument to Friedrich Schiller, erected in 1909. The Art Nouveau monument was proposed by the architect F. Omann, the relief of the poet was carved out of stone by Max Giller.
