Cyprus, Paphos
The Church of Our Lady of Chrysopolitissa was built in the 13th century. on the site of the ruins of the largest early Byzantine basilica of the island. Here is the Column of St. Paul, to which, according to legend, St. Paul was tied when the Romans punished him with a whip. Initially, the church had seven chapels, but later they were reduced to five. The floor of the basilica was decorated with colorful mosaics, some of which have survived to this day.
