Cathedral Square
Cathedral Square
Cuba, Havana
The Cathedral Square, symbolized by the famous Cathedral of St. Christopher, was founded in 1578 and was originally called Plaza de Cienaga, which means Marsh Square. Currently, this square is one of the most popular places for all visitors to Havana.
In addition to the Cathedral of St. Christopher, the area is famous for the palace of the Marquis de Arcos, built in 1741, the lower floor of which was occupied by the first Cuban post office for a long time. Also on the square are located, turned into museums in our time, the houses of the Spanish aristocracy of the XVII-XVIII centuries. This is one of the most interesting architectural ensembles of Old Havana, which includes the buildings of the Museum of Colonial Art (Palace of the Counts de Casa Bayora), the Art Gallery Victor Manuel, the Museum of Education (House of the Count De Lombillo).
