Cuba, Havana
The University of Havana, abbreviated as UH, is one of the leading universities in Cuba. Located in Havana, in the prestigious district of Vedado. The university was founded in 1728 and was one of the first such institutions in the Western Hemisphere.
At first, the university was located in Old Havana in the Villa de San Cristobal area, and on May 1, 1902, it moved to a new building, which was located in the Vedado area. The solemnity and majesty of the building is given by its large size, as well as architectural elements made in the neoclassical style. The interiors of the university, created by Armando Menocal, are decorated with seven frescoes that symbolize medicine, art, thinking, the humanities, literature and law.
