Ernest Hemingway House Museum
Museo Casa Ernest Hemingway, Hemingways House
Cuba, Havana
The world famous writer Ernest Hemingway spent the last two decades of his life in Cuba. His third wife, Martha Gellhorn, persuaded him to buy a small house on the seashore. This is how the “Farm with a Sea View” was bought, or in other words the Finca Vigia Manor. It was chosen due to its proximity to the writer's favorite bars, Bodeguita del Medio and El Floridita, in the area of the San Francisco de Paula quarter.
As a museum, the house opened its doors in 1962. Here everything remained untouched, as under the previous owners. The rooms contain a large number of African hunting trophies, images of the writer's favorite bullfight. On large shelves right up to the roof, a lot of newspapers and about 9 thousand books are collected - the writer's library.
