Western Fringes Park, Beijing Zoo, Beijing Zoo
China, Beijing
The Beijing Zoo is located in the western part of Beijing. It gained prominence shortly after the founding of the People's Republic of China as the Western Fringes Park. Like many Beijing parks, the zoo has the appearance of classic Chinese gardens. It combines artificial plantations of flowers and thickets of natural plants, dense groves of trees, patches of meadows, a small stream, lotus ponds and small hills strewn with pavilions and aviaries.

The Beijing Zoo mainly represents the wild and rare animals of China. The giant panda is one of the most visited animals, other popular animals include the Sichuan golden short-nosed monkey, Manchurian tigers, white-lipped fallow deer, Tibetan yaks, giant sea turtles, polar bears from the North Pole, kangaroos from Australia and zebras from Africa. The zoo is also a zoological research center for the study and cultivation of rare animals from different continents.
The zoo buildings cover an area of more than 50 thousand square meters, including the monkey enclosure, the panda pavilion, the lion and tiger enclosures, the elephant pavilion and many others. The Beijing Oceanarium was opened to the public in 1999. This is the largest aquarium in China. In addition to the huge variety of marine animals, visitors can watch shows with dolphins and sea lions.

I don't like animals in captivity, but the opportunity to see a live panda took over. - History reference Originally, right after the founding of the PRC, it was known as the Western Outskirts Park. Its territory has the appearance of classical Chinese gardens. It combines artificial plantations of flowers and thickets of natural plants, dense groves of trees, patches of meadows, small streams, lotus ponds and small hills, literally dotted with pavilions and aviaries. The zoo's brightest stars are the giant pandas, among other inhabitants the Sichuan golden short-nosed monkeys, Manchurian tigers, white-lipped fallow deer, Tibetan yaks, huge sea turtles, polar bears from the North Pole, kangaroos from Australia and zebras from Africa are popular with tourists.
