Beihai Park

beihai park
China, Beijing
Beihai Park was founded in the 10th century, but later on it was actively developed and later acquired the status of an imperial garden, accessible only to the Chinese imperial family. The park is not only incredibly beautiful and well maintained, there are also many different pavilions, temples and palaces. The area of the park is almost 70 hectares, but most of its territory falls on the lake. In its center is the artificial island of Qionghua, where most of the attractions of the park are located - the White Stupa, the ancient Buddhist temples of Chanfu and Yunan. Visitors to Beihai will also be interested in seeing the 5 Dragon Pavilion, the 9 Dragon Wall, the Round Wall (Tuancheng) with Light Receiving Hall, Taihu Stones, various statues, vessels, and more. The park is a popular summer and winter recreation spot for city dwellers and a characteristic example of Chinese architectural tradition.

After noisy and crowded parks, palaces and temples, Behai Park became for me a corner of peace and relaxation, which from the very beginning was literally under my nose - a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. Beihai Park covers an area of .68 hectares. About half of this is the beautiful lake Tai'e Hu (?? ? - t? iy? h? ). The Chinese rulers chose this place for their palaces before the Forbidden City. The rulers of the Liao dynasty built their palace here (907 - 1125). And the rulers from the Qin dynasty also lived here, and in addition they poured an artificial island.
