The statue of the goddess Guanyin is located in Macau Bay (southeastern part of the city). The twenty-meter bronze sculpture weighs 50 tons. The statue erected under the Portuguese, dedicated to the local goddess of Mercy, has some similarities with the Virgin Mary. Locals believe that if you go around it, it will bring good luck.
