Mount Dongshan - East Mountain. This mountain is called the first mountain of Hainan - for the beauty of unique landscapes, panoramas and ancient cultural monuments. On an area of about 10 sq. km, huge rocks of the most amazing shape are scattered here. They symbolize the foundation of the universe. Each stone has its own name and is described in a special catalogue. Hieroglyphs are carved on one of the rocks, the inscription in translation reads: "The peak of the mixing of winds." It is dated to the 12th century.
In addition, since ancient times, this mountain has been a place of pilgrimage for Buddhists: there are Huafeng, Chaoyin, Dongling temples, a temple in the rock, and there are special places for prayers on the rocks. On the slopes of the mountain there are burial places, including modern ones, and halfway to the top there is a monument to Li Gan, one of those figures in whose honor the Uguntsy temple was erected.
