Chiesa di Santa Maria degli Angioli is an old Romanesque church that houses amazing frescoes by Bernardino Luini, a student of Leonard da Vinci, dated 1529. Covering all the walls, these frescoes turn the church into one huge illustration of the crucifixion of Christ. If you come closer to the altar, then on the fresco you can see views of Jerusalem and Golgotha. It is curious that the inhabitants of Lugano served as prototypes of the people depicted on the fresco "The Crucifixion of Christ", and the painter depicted himself riding a white horse.→
