Bürkliplatz was built in the second half of the 19th century. near
Lake Zurich. It is named after the Swiss politician, engineer and philanthropist Arnold Burkli. The famous
Bahnhofstrasse ends at this square, so Bürkliplatz is a favorite place for rest for locals and visitors after long walks and shopping. The square is known for its observation platform on the lake "Bürkliterrase", as well as the wonderful fountain "Geyser" of 1910. Bürkliplatz is the venue for various events, as well as the starting point for excursions on Lake Zurich.
