The City Hall is the symbol of Zurich. It was built in the Baroque style at the end of the 17th century. on the banks of the
River Limmat. This three-story administrative building impresses with its luxurious decoration and majestic view - it is decorated with arcades, stucco, painted ceilings, crystal chandeliers and massive doors. The Town Hall is also the only building in Switzerland that has retained its original appearance to this day. It is under the jurisdiction of the canton of Zurich and now documents are kept there that tell about the history and development of the city. Currently, the Town Hall building is open to the public, meetings of citywide councils and various receptions are held here.
