St. Peter's Church is the oldest church in Zurich, information about which dates back to the 8th-9th centuries. During its long existence, the church was rebuilt and renovated more than once, so it combines late Romanesque and Gothic styles. The most recognizable part of the Pieterskirche is a tower with a huge clock of the 16th century, which from the Middle Ages to the beginning of the 20th century. used as a fire alarm tower. St. Peter's Church was the first Protestant church in Zurich and belongs to the Swiss Reformed Church to this day. Inspection of the temple is possible at any time, but a visit to the tower is only by prior request.
