The Fraumünster Church is one of the most important churches in Zurich. The temple was built in the IX century. under the reign of Louis II of Germany as part of a women's abbey belonging to the Benedictine order. The monastery enjoyed the patronage of the kings, who granted great privileges to the abbesses. After the Reformation of Zwingli in the XVI century. The Fraumünster Monastery was abolished and today only the Fraumünster Church and the Münsterhof Square remain. This temple remains active and belongs to Protestantism. Fraumünster's main treasures are the magnificent stained-glass windows created by Marc Chagall and Augusto Giacometti, as well as a miraculously preserved fresco from the Middle Ages depicting the history of the abbey's creation. In addition to regular services, the Fraumünster church also hosts classical music concerts and mixed church choir performances.
